I remember we saw him at Christmas and he was happy. He had become a man and I was so proud of him. He was just in his elements with music, learning beats, sharing with me all the new songs he created and all the new people he had met. He barely had the chance to begin his life before it was snatched from him. That’s my greater regret.

In marriage counselling, sometimes it looks like you are moving round in circles. The same issues crop up over and over again. This week I want to focus on some of these issues, based on recent experiences.

THE attacks against African migrants in South Africa drowned a salutary step taken by that country against a major symbol of racism in the continent. After occupying a pride of place on the campus of the Cape Coast University, South Africa, the statue of British imperialist, Cecil John Rhodes unveiled 81 years ago, was removed on April 8, 2015. It was the culmination of protests by students, lecturers and other South African patriots.

THe Institute of Directors Nigeria (IoD) has challenged Nigerian women to possess a strong networking skill if they would make their way to the top in all aspects of life in a male-dominated environment. This was the submission of women directors, leaders and top officers who converged recently at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos at the luncheon organized by IoD Women Directors entitled Networking to the Top…issues for women.

CRIME Victims Foundation (CRVIFON), a non-governmental organization responsible for assisting victims of crime in Nigeria has commended the Lagos State Police command for their conduct during the 2015 Presidential and governorship election in the country. Executive Director of the Foundation, Mrs. Gloria Egbuji who made the commendation in statement made available to Vanguard noted that the command’s conduct during the elections met international standards in conduct of cops during elections.

THESE are not the best of times for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Nigeria’s ruling behemoth was so dominantly assured of its hegemonic hold on power, that many of its leaders arrogantly told Nigerians, that they would rule for sixty years. It was ground enough for a party that was everything but a genuine political party, to arrogantly grab hold of power, and do as they wished.
