The Minister of Works, David Umahi, on Friday reopened the Independence Bridge in Lagos, which had been closed for maintenance, sparking widespread public outcry and traffic chaos across the city.

GOVERNOR Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, yesterday, attributed the gridlock experienced by motorists on Wednesday to a lack of effective communication by relevant authorities.

The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has traveled to Lagos to assess the progress of rehabilitation work on the Independence Bridge and provide an urgent intervention to ease traffic congestion caused by its temporary closure.
