We love to blame most of our miseries on the older generation – the corruption, the greed, the rot and decay, and the rise in ethnic politics; everything that has held us back.

ANYTHING  that affects all must be approached by all. This is one way of explaining the seriousness with which the relatively new Chief Justice of Nigeria, CJN, Walter Onnoghen, is approaching the fight against corruption in Nigeria. In Onnoghen, we see the first bold attempt to deal with the issue of corruption in this country.

AS ‘Sukuk’ and ‘Islamic banking’ are both components of ‘Islamic finance’ –or investment- I thought there was no need writing anew on the subject of CAN’s rejection of  ‘Sukuk’ since I have already written six years ago on the Association’s earlier rejection of ‘Islamic banking’ itself. AS Nigeria marks its 57th year as a corporate entity, there is no greater issue that has got the people of this country exercised than that of her unity.

Last week I started a discussion of the current impasse between the United States of America and North Korea brought about by the latter’s continued nuclear weapons program in the course of which it has fired several test missiles while the world watches on with trepidation.
