IT will be six years exactly tomorrow since Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi was conspiratorially killed in a western-instigated uprising in Libya, following the Arab Spring of the Maghreb. Since then, the North African Arab nation that was promised ‘freedom’ and ‘democracy’ in exchange for the lush Eden that Gaddafi’s 43 years of benevolent dictatorship had created, now faces disintegration, from two warring parliaments each seeking legitimacy to constitute itself into Libya’s new sovereign.

Everything happens for a reason. To live in Nigeria and to protect one’s sanity from disappointment or the curious propensity in this country to repeat the same mistakes while continuing to expect a different result, one has to believe that everything happens for a reason which only time will tell.

AT the Eagle’s Square in Abuja during his inauguration on May 29, 2015, President Muhammadu Buhari famously said in his inaugural address that he was a Nigerian original who belonged to no individual, group or any section of the country.

“The revival, resuscitation, development and modernization of 21st century rail system is a sine qua non to the liberation of the country from the shackles of primitive and outdated rail system we presently operate.   Until very recently when some works were carried out on the almost abandoned Nigerian rail lines, most Nigerians no longer remembered that railway even existed in the country! Such was the extent of the neglect the rail system suffered in our dear country”.

CORRUPTION is a major challenge for our country as it is for many parts of the world. It thrives best where controls are lax; in an eco-system in which institutional state capture by powerful groups encourages a politico-economic alliance between the state and the private sector in a manner that robs both government and society.
