The contention to replace the late Abubakar Audu as the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Kogi State turned violent, yesterday, after supporters of the two major contenders clashed at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Hours before the deadline given to the All Progressives Congress APC for the substitution of its candidate in the inconclusive Kogi Governorship election, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has confirmed receiving a communication from the party.

ABUJA- Ahead of Saturday, December 5 Bayelsa State Governorship Election by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP yesterday raised alarm that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC has concluded arrangements to rig the poll through the use of cloned Permanent Voter Cards, PVCs and fake security agents.

The chairman, Peoples Democratic Party, Rivers State chapter, Felix Obuah, says he is disappointed about the continued show of disrespect for the law and breach of public peace by members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, led by Dakuku Peterside, Magnus Abe, Andrew Uchendu and other leaders of the party in the state.

Barring any changes, the All Progressives Congress, APC would any moment from now unveil Mr. Yahaya Bello as its governorship candidate for Kogi State supplementary polls this Saturday

INEC was wrong by asking APC to substitute late Abubakar Audu with a new candidate. INEC will also be wrong to have asked for a transfer of the late Audu’s votes to Falake or a new candidate who did not participate in the election. In an election, the electoral umpire cannot change the goal-post in the middle of the game like INEC has done. It is ethically, morally & legally wrong to do so. The actions of INEC are null & void and cannot not stand the judicial test of time.
