Chief Samuel Olatunde Fadahunsi was 94 years old at his death on 12 August 2014. He was born in Ora, Osun State although his parents were from Ilesha, Osun State.

I GOT to know the late Alhaji Magaji Dambatta personally only in the last one year of his accomplished life. Of course, it is impossible not to have been aware of a rare titan who from a very young age, began a life that was entirely dedicated to God and his community.

In my article on the recent election in Osun State, provocatively titled “How APC Lost the Osun Election;” I was lavish in praising the INEC. I said: “Attahiru Jega is by far Nigeria’s best public-servant. He is yet again, the real winner of the Osun election; and he is doing a fantastic job transforming the electoral-process in Nigeria for the better and even the best. BOKO HARAM is, perhaps, the luckiest insurgent group operating in the world right now. It has at its easy disposal, an array of foot soldiers and avenues for the dissemination of its propaganda; that mind game of war and politics which, when effectively deployed, wears down the enemy before the weapons of military destruction arrive to finish him off.

Section 188 of the Nigerian Constitution 1999 empowers a State legislature to remove from office a Governor or his deputy who is found guilty of gross misconduct. The Enugu State House of Assembly relied on the Section a few days back, to impeach the Deputy Governor of the State, Mr. Sunday Onyebuchi, for the “gross misconduct” of running a poultry farm in his compound. The Enugu legislators didn’t do anything new.

Last Tuesday, President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan launched the Nigerian National Identity card to great expectations. The National Identity Card project has been long in the making. The first proposal for the National ID project was mooted in 1976, but various interests, including cultural and religious concerns, pressured the administration into abandoning the idea.

But Ojukwu, overwhelmed by personal ambition and popular support, decided that “an early practicable date” meant “four days later,” without detailed preparation for the worst case scenario – war. In the early hours of May 30 1967, he declared the transformation of Eastern region into The Republic of Biafra. Looking at the issue dispassionately, although Ojukwu was under tremendous pressure to pull Eastern region out of Nigeria, he lacked the necessary political experience and sagacity to neutralise the understandable anger of his people and explore less extreme or disruptive approach for resolving the conflict between Eastern region and the federal government.

God, our Father, is merciful. Once we repent, he immediately forgives us; provided we also forgive others. Jesus says: “If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.” (Matthew 6:14-15).

Who would have thought that the West is considering working with Syria to get rid of ISIS? They say, my friend’s enemy is my enemy. So when does your enemy become your friend? It is all about interest and changes in perspectives. So you see, there is a permanent interest but no permanent friends. At the moment, Oyinlola is very pally pally with Aregbesola. Aregbesola on the election trail goes as far as describing Oyinlola as his brother. Just in case you have forgotten the former was a sworn enemy of the latter. The former Governor stole the mandate of Aregbesola and even swore to run the Ogbeni out of town. You probably remember the Osun/Osogbo episode where the Good Lord saved the Ogbeni from assassination.
