Electoral Officers have spotted at some polling units within Uyo the Akwa Ibom State capital as early as 7: 30am.

The newly posted Commissioner of Police in charge of gubernatorial and state assembly elections in Sokoto State, CP Shettima Zanna has in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police ordered restriction of all vehicular movements on roads from 12 midnight on Friday to 6 pm on election day in the state with the exceptions of those on essential services such as Electoral Observers, accredited media, ambulances and fire fighting vehicles.

Ahead of the Saturday’s governorship and state house of assembly elections, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba has on Friday deployed surveillance helicopter and other Operational Vehicles to Kano state to ensure hitch free exercise in the state.

“When you are talking about the numbers of Police we are having on the field, we have deployed about 11,000. We have personnel coming from states that are not conducting elections. They are altogether three CPs and six Deputy CPs and assistants coming in. Our CP here has been sent to Imo State for the same purpose. We are ready to go.”
