Two reports thrilled me this week.
The first was from Simon Kalika. It was on their perception of what Eagles should look like on the field. The second was from his boss Samson Siasia emphasising what Kalika had said.

YOU might recall that the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF), the PDP faction that is led by Mallam Adamu Ciroma, presented Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as the “Northern Consensus Candidate” at the party’s primary in January. You might also be aware that when Atiku failed to secure the PDP nomination, President Jonathan did not behave like an arrogant victor.

Many patriots and some friends of Nigeria are still doubtful of peaceful co_existence of the peoples of Nigeria even if Prof. Jega and his INEC, by divine help could hold successful elections in April. The reasons are obvious, even for the blind to feel, if they could not see.

SOMETIMES, we are tempted to ask, who needs elections, particularly in the face of all the accompanying aggravations – assassinations, kidnaps, mudslinging, criminality and all that? We are also quickly reminded that what was once regarded as the serious business of governance has, in this trimester, gone awol.

VERY few of us outside the judicial circles knew the man was still in the service. As soon as he completed his dirty job of condemning Ken Saro-Wiwa, along with eight other Ogoni leaders, Justice Ibrahim Auta rapidly dropped out of sight. He only resurfaced, to the surprise of many, when recently the news hit the airwaves that he was going to be appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Federal High Court.
