Northern state legislators have said the North deserves to retain the presidency in 2023 because the South had ruled for 14 years while the north would have ruled for 10 years at the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

He, however, encouraged the well-known social cultural group to keep aside issues of zoning and play the “I am a Nigerian” card; adding that “every Nigeria should be accorded equal chance of approaching the pool whenever the need be without any territorial restrictions and ethic hurdles”.

The Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has said Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State was a student at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, when the North and South agreed on the rotational presidency in 1998.
