SEGUN ODEGBAMI: Who wins – Spain or Argentina?

The curtains will be drawn on the 2026 FIFA World Cup tomorrow.   The 104 football battles fought amongst 48 countries will come to a most befitting climax. Yar’Adua’s health and the shame of a nation

He should put the power vested in his office to good and immediate use. If other Nigerians, including members of the National Assembly, governors and traditional rulers have tried to no avail to reach the President and know something of his health, it should not be said that the Acting President equally failed.

Haiti: A feedback from Austria, Benin…

On February 13, 1994, Nature Servant Phillip Eguaseki Asomwonriri returned home to Africa. To come along with us about Africanite Religion, we cite from the Africanite Proclamation dated, WEDNESDAY,1994, page 46, subtitled, “The Divine Nature” A glance at the Universe; instantly reveals how magnificent and abundant Nature possessions contain and HER endless treasures remain a source of bewilderment to those who possess the Earthly spirit of the Universe.

The Born Again Farouk Muttalab and World Peace!!

The American authorities must be cautious that the predictable life term or long term jail sentence or indeed execution of Muttalab would not only turn Farouk into a martyr worthy of emulation by other young Islamic fundamentalist prospects, but may also make the U.S. to miss a great opportunity to enlist the young Nigerian in counter propaganda against terrorism, and suicide attacks and the deliberate promotion of Islam as a religion of peace among young Muslims.

Tough line!

Open letter to Mrs. Jonathan

There are at least three reasons Jonathan will not be on the ballot in 2010; and if he forces himself on it disaster will follow. One reason, and one reason only, dictates this letter to Mrs Jonathan. She can ignore it if she likes. But, at least half a dozen people (Mustapha, Ekwueme, Obasanjo, El-Rufai, Ribadu, Soludo etc ) who were warned on this page and who ignored the warning are now licking their wounds –including her predecessor in office. I don’t want her to join them in “weeping and gnashing of teeth”. The choice however is hers.

A sea of faces

A sea of faces

It is easy to be lost in a sea of faces, to be surrounded by people who make so much noise that you become deaf to the isolating emptiness that is just beneath the surface. I admire the people with busting social diaries and address books as much as I pity them. Where interactions with our fellow men are concerned we sometimes forget to test for depth of feeling, preferring to enjoy the surface glitter.

Sole administration as a booby trap

Sole administration as a booby trap

I said last week that by his assumption of duty as Acting President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has become, de facto, the sole administrator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This means that he is right up there being the only person in the executive arm that was elected.
