The righteousness presented in many parts of the bible is not the righteousness of God. Jeremiah declares that a righteous branch from David’s line shall be called: “The LORD Our Righteousness.” (Jeremiah 33:16).

It seems that there is so much polarisation when it comes to the two presidential candidates. I was not expecting the deluge of responses from far and wide. It does not take a genius to know that there is great expectations and anxiety come February 2015. Either way, people seem to have pitched their camp already. We should put sentiments aside and the priority should be for the good of all Nigerians and Nigeria.

Only 3 days ago, Nigerians crossed over to a new year from one that was characterized by lies, deceit and self-denial. Historians would no doubt remember the year as one where fake patriots denied, all year through, the obvious vanishing life of their nation.

That said, it is clear that the two genealogies are so strikingly dissimilar that they might well be referring to two different individuals.

POLITICAL life interests me a great deal. That is one of the reasons I studied Political Science. As we begin the New Year 2015, it is clear that we will soon hurtle into what must be one of the most defining elections ever held in our country, especially since the 1999 transition. There is a tremendous amount of expectations in the air. It is something akin to a pregnancy; we can all see a protruding belly, but no one can determine whether we will have a safe delivery or a stillborn baby. More than ever before, I think Nigerians are united in one direction, that of expecting that the elections should be free and fair, with an outcome which reflects the true feelings of the Nigerian people. But are we going to get a process that all will accept as reflective of this collective longing?
