Nigeria and petroleum mentality
During the recent fuel subsidy controversy, the government side rightly challenged Labour to name any item other than fuel whose price had remained unchanged since 2007. It was probably a strong point but the truth is that both the government and her people have the same attitude towards petroleum which in this piece we simply call ‘petroleum mentality’- a mindset which devalues an otherwise precious item.
Speaking for the nation
Two weeks ago, the political leaders of the South-West and the South-South geo-political zones met with the president and demanded even more emphatically for the conveying of the Sovereign National Conference. It does seem that the president allied himself with that call. And that is a good thing.

The blessings of Boko Haram
Jesus says we can identify his disciples by their fruits. (Matthew 7:20). He then says the fruits of a man are his words. (Luke 6:43-45). So here is a sure-fire way of determining the true disciple. Step on his toes and see what he has to say. Give him a slap and listen to what comes out of his mouth. That is the value of Boko Haram attacks for Nigerian Christians.
LAGOS/BENIN ROAD: Some pass marks, but ….
Both the print and electronic media, through write-ups, photographs, and news reports, did their best for many months to draw the federal government’s attention to the deplorable condition of that very busy and very important road in the country. The volume of vehicular movement, including many heavy duty vehicles, like fuel tankers, trailers of all sizes, and lorries, is unbelievable.
Pain for living
A little girl called Ashley is on television suffering from a serious condition. She is covered in bruises and her parents have to examine her daily to be sure she is not hurt. She seems to enjoy biting and scratching herself till she bleeds and is prone to jumping off high things.
Government by committee and task force; whodunit?
I am yet to understand the rationale for the numerous committees that are springing up every day at a time the Jonathan-led government is thinking about running a slim government and save for the country.
A little respect

Barely had her body been lowered into the grave that her erstwhile ‘husband’ who reportedly stormed out of the funeral ceremony because the sitting arrangements were not to his liking wants to publish a tell all book about Whitney… low-life! Once again, a o ni ba olori buruku pade! Enough said.
