Yesterday, Nigerians went to the polls to elect their president. The polls’ results will become clearer today and a new president would have emerged. Judging from last week’s showing at the polls, General Muhammadu Buhari, the presidential candidate for the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) is unlikely to garner enough votes to be the new president, unless a great shift of grounds happens at the last minutes to change the last tallies at the polls. But Buhari has run a good campaign. He has appealed, cajoled, and he has presented himself forcefully on the platform of progressive change.

Just what can an individual do to a politician you’ve helped to vote into power, who neglects to keep his campaign promises? That was the question on the lips of most of our readers who reacted to the subject. It’s a helpless situation we find ourselves in as you can’t force the person to keep those promises.

One of the worst things the IOCs do to Nigeria is to turn ordinarily articulate Nigerians into enemies of their own countries. Their stock-in-trade is bribery and corruption, not only in Nigeria but worldwide. Tolu typifies the Nigerian working for an IOC – extremely well-paid and brainwashed to defend EVERYTHING the IOC does -right or wrong.
