Former 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, and a key figure in the coalition movement within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Peter Obi, is currently in a closed-door meeting with Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, at the Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Ibadan.

The meeting comes against the backdrop of Mohammed’s public disclosure on March 31 that his preferred destination for defection was the African Democratic Congress. 

He decried the persistent challenges facing the sector, including chronic underfunding, inadequate infrastructure, outdated curricula, and weak linkage between education and industry. 

Frontline presidential aspirant of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Mr. Peter Obi, has urged governments at all levels to prioritise education and human capital development over physical infrastructure, warning that underinvestment in education continues to undermine Nigeria’s development.

Obi questioned the Federal Government’s latest approval of ₦3.3 trillion for power sector liabilities, describing the development as part of a recurring pattern that has yet to deliver results.

“This underhanded plan has been in motion since the conclusion of the 2023 election, deliberately injecting crises into Obi’s Labour Party to prevent him from securing a foothold for the election,” the statement said.
