Foreign intervention
While debates were raging about whether President Goodluck Jonathan should or should not invite the American Government to help him rescue the abducted Chibok school girls, Senator John McCain – the Republican Party candidate who was electorally defeated by Barack Obama in 2008 – expressed the view that the US should intervene in the crisis without prior approval from our Government.

Boko Haram is as devious as the devil itself. From a ragtag band of misguided Islamic adherents which preached against Western education and everything Western as a whole, it has now become the most talked-about terrorist group in the world.

Early this week, Nigerian newspapers carried on their covers the picture of local vigilantes in Borno State allegedly preparing to enter the dreaded Sambisa forest. They were ostensibly ready not only to rescue the Chibok girls, but to also confront Boko Haram insurgents.

These politicians may, after all, not be as smart as they pretend to be. Some of them are daft or simply hard of hearing. How else does anyone explain a situation where they keep doing the same old thing in the same old way and be expecting different outcomes?
God’s anointed criminals
As the world watched Abuba-kar Shekau’s video declaration of Allah’s instruction to him to sell the nearly 300 girls he kidnapped at midnight from their boarding school beds in Chibok, Borno State, something happened at last that had been long awaited: action, rather than platitudinous words of outrage.
