The Nigeria Football Federation has expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for directing that players and officials of African champions, Super Falcons be paid within days, following the team’s protest at the Three Arms Zone on Wednesday.

The Presidency has summoned president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Amaju Pinnick and his top officials following a protest march by the country’s women’s team.

The Senate Committee on Sports on Wednesday in Abuja assured the Super Falcons of payment of their outstanding allowances.

Following a Wednesday morning protest by members of the female football national team at the National Assembly over non-payment of their allowances by the NFF, the presidency has promised to clear all allowances by Friday.

For the eighth consecutive time, Nigeria’s national female football team, the Super Falcons, affirmed their superiority on the continent at the recently concluded African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) where they beat Cameroon in the final. It was a record-setting victory for the team handler, Miss Florence Omagbemi, who won the trophy as a player and a coach. The coveted Cup is indeed a Christmas gift to our soccer- loving nation.

Some football fans in Abuja have applauded the Super Falcons, in spite of their 1-2 loss to Cote D’Ivoire in the final group match of the ongoing All-Africa Games women’s football event in Congo.

The Super Falcons leaped to the top of Group A of the women’s football tournament of the 11th All-Africa Games after a 5-1 whiplash of host Congo-Brazzaville on Sunday.

Christian Chukwu, member, Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA), on Tuesday said the new Super Falcons’ coaches would be named after the team’s two friendly matches against Japan.
