 Ahead of the November 16 governorship election in Kogi state, the quest by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, got a boost today following the acceptance of Ibrahim Idris, a former governor of the state, to chair the campaign council.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to show humility and accept the bitter truth that poverty, internal conflicts, bloodletting, banditry, kidnapping, insurgency, abuse of human rights and general national insecurity are worse in the country today than they were before he took overpower.

The lines have clearly not fallen in pleasant places for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) since the 2019 general elections. From lacklustre, perhaps, lousy approach to the inauguration of the 9th National Assembly, to the needless crisis over Minority leadership in the House of Representatives, and pockets of dissent in various state chapters, the PDP is like a rudderless ship manned by a drunk, puppeteered crew. It has lost momentum and direction.
