Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has observed that fierce competition between Nigeria’s two refineries owned by Dangote and NNPC Limited is responsible for the recent drop in the pump price of premium motor spirit also known as petrol in the country.

NNPC Limited has reduced the pump price of petrol at its retail outlets in Abuja to N965 per litre, down from N1,030 per litre.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, has slashed the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, also known as petrol by 12 per cent to ₦899 per liter, from ₦1,020 per liter.

NNPCL has said the 60,000 barrels per day, bpd, old Port Harcourt Refinery remains fully operation, as loading of products was ongoing

Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited on Monday pointed out that the restreaming of the 60,000 barrels per day Port Harcourt refinery marked a significant turning point in Nigeria’s quest to attain energy sufficiency and security.

THE oil producers and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, have disagreed over the collection of the 0.5 per cent wholesale price levy.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, said the new Port Harcourt refinery is over 90 percent completed.

“There is no refinery where you open a tap and rinse out the gasoline so that it will not blend. There is no crime committed when you blend in a refinery”

“Products from PHRC are exclusively for our retail stores at this stage. Our pricing is reviewed and adjusted periodically”

“Our preference will be that of the NLNG model, where the investors would have 51% while the government would have 49%”

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has clarified that there is no discrepancy between its crude oil production figures and those provided by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC).

NNPC Limited on Wednesday unveiled its Utapate crude oil blend before the international crude oil market, five months after the first cargo was shipped from Nigeria. 

The Executive Director of Energy Reforms Advocates of Nigeria (ERAN) Mr Robinson Onuh has said that  despite the decision of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), to end Importation of Petroleum Products and patronize Dangote and other local refineries, there has been a rise in petrol importation by marketers in Nigeria over the last few days.
