Customs compounding manufacturing sector’s woes — NECA
Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, NECA, yesterday raised the alarm, saying the recurring bottlenecks associated with the Customs Service were hindering the ease of doing business and compounding the woes of manufacturing companies.
Customs intercepts N12.7bn smuggled vehicles, rice, others
The Federal Operations Unit, FOU Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has intercepted various items of contraband worth N12.7billion between January and April 2020.
The Unit also intercepted a vehicle with Covid-19 sticker used for smuggling frozen chicken into the country from Benin Republic.
Smugglers machete Customs officer over seized rice
OPERATIVES of the Ogun I Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, patrol team on surveillance were last week attacked by smugglers who matcheted a member of the team after it seized 35 bags of 50kg of smuggled parboiled rice at Ilashe village in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Customs strike force rakes N2.1bn in 4 months
THE Comptroller-General of Customs Strike force in zone ‘A’ has said it raked in a total of N2.1m in the first months of the year from seized items. Onne Customs Q1’20 revenue collection hits N22.9bn
THE Area 11 Onne Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has collected N22.95 billion in revenue between in the first quarter of 2020, Q1’20. This is in addition to the seizures of seven containers with total Duty Paid Value, DPV, of N215.4 million within the same period.
