Why must it be Buhari or Atiku?
I am deeply impressed by his smartness and passion; but reaching the lofty heights of the presidency is not just about possessing an admirable character or professional track record
Anything goes!
I disagree with IPOB in the sense that injustice can be reduced significantly by those who are ready to tackle it in a constructive way
Gaslighting
Very few voters have what it takes to always spot gaslighting from a mile off and firmly say “no way” to being bamboozled
Restructuring – an exchange of views
If restructuring will seriously undermine northern states, why are some northern leaders like Tambuwal in favour of it?
Another perspective
ON quite a few occasions this year, I have expressed disappointment in President Muhammadu Buhari and indicated a preference for his main rival, PDP flagbearer, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. And most of the Vanguard readers who have contacted me have said that they share my views.
Just tired!
I’VE spent the past few weeks in Nigeria, doing a lot of informal opinion-polling, as in randomly sounding all sorts of people out about their political views, their fears and their hopes for the future.

Fake royalty
NIGERIA is full of prancing, posturing, preening, pampered quasi princelings – arrogant, domineering politicians who reckon that they should be allowed to own their states in perpetuity and feel that they deserve to be slavishly obeyed at all times
Let my people rise!
EVERYONE who is well-plugged-in to the South-South political scene knows that Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi – the colourful ex-Governor (2007-2015) of my state (Rivers), current Minister of Transport and recurrent director-general of Buhari election campaigns – is super-combative and divisive by nature.
Atiku’s big win
EX-VP Alhaji Atiku Abubakar enjoyed a resounding victory last weekend; and his emergence as the presidential candidate of the main opposition party, PDP, has totally panicked many previously complacent members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, because they know that Atiku is the only Nigerian politician who has what it takes to beat President Buhari in 2019.
Unbelievable!
What struck me about he above messages is that not one of the respondents bothered to react to my concerns about bigger crimes
Poor Kemi
My view is that being massively humiliated and losing a treasured top job is enough punishment within this context
He will be so sorely missed
“Chinwe” was one of those who light up any room they enter and attract lots of the right kind of attention
Catholic Church: The good and the bad
Considering the amount of sadism the Irish Catholic Church has dished out, who can blame its victims for being less than delighted when the Pope showed up?
The controllability fantasy
The other day, I was discussing the Nigerian political scene with some friends. We mostly talked about the challenges faced by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the main Opposition group…and about the many PDP stablemates who are hoping to snatch electoral victory from President Muhammadu Buhari next year.
