Following the killings of innocent people in the New Year day by some gunmen who were later killed by Nigerian security operatives, the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike on Tuesday reiterated the need for a combine effort to fight insurgency and insecurity in the country, noting that President Muhammadu Buhari remained the last person to politicise with security issues in the country.

Immediate past governor of Rivers State, Mr Chibuike Amaechi, has in a broadcast to the people of the state, accused his successor, Governor Nyesom Wike, of exacerbating the violence in the state through his inclination to witchcraft politics.

The former Governor of Rivers state and now minister of Transport, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi  Amaechi, has condemned the New Year Day massacre in Omoku community in Rivers state as well as the deteriorating security situations in the state lately, accusing the current governor of the state, Nyesom Wike of playing witchcraft politics.

The Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, has blamed the cult related killings in the state on security Chiefs and agencies, noting that they (security agencies) know the cult kingpins, yet have not tracked the hoodlums down.
