Clan heads of Mbume Blocs in Etung Local Government Area of Cross River have protested the non-reinstatement of the suspended paramount ruler of the local government, Dr Emmanuel Ojong.

A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Cross River State, Barrister Essien Ita, on Wednesday 29th March, said that the abysmal performance of the party in the just concluded elections was due to the refusal of the state exco to respect the zoning principle that had existed since 1999.

“One of my colleagues is still been treated in the theatre and I pray he comes out alive as heavy stones and planks were used on him.”

Troops of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army Calabar deployed for Operation Akpakwu, have rescued the abducted Commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross Rivers, Associate Prof Gertrude Nnanjar Njar after 35 days in captivity.

“She attended a series of meetings to prepare for tomorrow’s presidential election. She held some meetings yesterday close to the night. She showed no signs of exhaustions or sickness when she retired later in the evening.”
