A foremost socio-political group, Akwa Ibom Liberation Movement, AILM, ha raised alarm over a plot by the minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and the All Progressives Congress, in Akwa Ibom to substitute his name for another candidate ahead of the re-run election in Essien Udim Local Government Area.

A socio-political group, the One Nigeria Movement (ONM) has advised the Niger Delta Affairs Minister, Senator Godswill Akpabio to come and test his popularity at the re-run election in Essien Udim rather than hiding behind the cover of a nebulous group, the Forum of APC Aspirants to malign the sterling reputation of the Akwa Ibom State Resident Electoral Commissioner, Mr Mike Igini.

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos in a landmark judgment has ordered the Federal Government to “recover pensions collected by former governors now serving as ministers and members of the National Assembly, and directed the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Mr. Abubakar Malami, SAN to challenge the legality of states’ pension laws permitting former governors and other ex-public officials to collect such pensions.”
