A group known as the Niger Delta Change Ambassadors which represents youths in the region, has passed a vote of confidence on President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio.

The appointment of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs by President Muhammadu Buhari was greeted with mixed feelings.

TWO Abuja based lawyers, Akharame Lucky and Edward Brisibe, yesterday, said they decided to drag the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio and others to court to correct the illegality in setting up of the Interim Management Committee and Advisory Committee for the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.

I read Etim Etim’s piece titled ‘The Hawks are Circling at NDDC Again’ published in Thisday of February 28, 2020, and came away shaking my head at the tragic ingenuity of the writer’s logic as he laboured to absolve his principal, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the Niger Delta Minister, of the mess that he has created in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

The sack of Ms Joi Nunieh on Wednesday February 19th 2019, barely four months after she was appointed Acting Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) is yet another chapter in the quagmire that the agency has been plunged into since Godswill Akpabio was appointed the Minister of Niger Delta and handed supervision of the agency.
