The factional Leader of Afenifere, a Yoruba socio-cultural group, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, has insisted that he would not recognise President Muhammadu Buhari as the winner of the February 2019 Presidential Election.

The 2019 presidential election, in which Muhammadu Buhari was declared winner, has continued to generate tension. The main opposition candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has since filed a petition at the election tribunal. But he did not stop there. Mr. Abubakar has embarked on an aggressive global campaign that attempts to paint a grim picture of two presidents-elect. The irony, however, is that the central element of Abubakar’s argument, his purported “server results”, lacks common sense. This begs the question: What is Atiku’s real motive?

WOLE Soyinka was in the news last week for a comment he made to Zainab Badawi on Hardtalk, an interview programme on the British Broadcasting Service, BBC. Badawi started by asking if Soyinka thought his generation of older Nigerians have failed the people and he responded in the affirmative. The hope that led many in his generation who studied abroad to rush back home to join in the transformation of Nigeria, he said, has not materialised.

Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad , SARS , Lagos State Police command, have arrested three suspected members of a robbery/ kidnap gang , who abducted and murdered two Bureau de- Change operators last month, in Ikorodu area of Lagos.

Following the release of the Nigerian student, Ms Zainab Aliyu, detained by Saudi Arabia government for alleged drug trafficking, the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Northern State chapter, Tuesday commended President Muhammadu Buhari’s led administration and urged him to equally secure the release of Leah Sharibu who has spent months in the Boko Haram captivity.
