THE people of Ndiabor Umunze in Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, have protested alleged clandestine moves to sell their ancestral land at Ohiagba forest in the community.

Nigeria is one of the world’s largest producers of crude oil which supposes that kerosene, a by-product, predominantly used by millions of our people as the cheapest energy for domestic cooking, suddenly became a scarce commodity as the price went beyond the reach of most ordinary citizens.

Despite claims by the Federal Government that the price of kerosene has been subsidized, the masses cannot get the product at the subsidised price. Saturday Vanguard sought the views of Nigerians, as they bare their minds on the issue.

Mr. Ayodeji Peters Oyedokun, is the Chief Executive Officer CEO, LASDRI, Olasunkanmi Akoni, recently visited Oshodi centre and had a chat with him with focus on the update of the on-going re-certification exercise of all commercial vehicle drivers and conductors operating in the state as well as other transport related issues in the state.

THIS is an incident that shouldn’t have happened, a tale that mustn’t be told, and a situation that a moral mind cannot fathom, yet, it was allegedly perpetuated by one Chibuike Maduka, 17, at Ndibe in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.

While hawkers were at one end of the road, street traders occupied the other end. To compound the problem, mini-bus (danfo) drivers busied themselves with picking and dropping passengers in unauthorised places.

Exactly 100 days after Lagos state government commenced the re-accreditation of passenger buses and 42 days into the new year, owners, drivers and conductors across the state, have continued to ignore government’s directive on the exercise.

Despite its ban from the major roads over eight months ago in Lagos state, tri-cycles popularly called Keke NAPEP, is becoming a major means of transportation in the state despite major challenges the operators are facing.
