One of the most distressing things in life is the state of being unemployed, and not being in a position to have a means of livelihood. We may well accuse the present generation of being lazy, laid-back, and wanting a life of luxury without their having to lift a finger to work, but at the same time, we should ask ourselves what we’re doing to empower the ones who are disadvantaged.

One reason why Nigeria’s political system is so rough is because of its winner-takes-all arrangement. The loser of an election in Nigeria is consigned to the sideline of a beggar where he gets nothing. As a result, our politicians do whatever can get them into office and seek to remain there for as long as destiny permits.

Mrs. Patience Jonathan, PSPJ, has certainly made history; even if atrocious history. And Bayelsa State has also entered into the Guinness Book of Records – in a way that now indisputably demonstrates to the world that the Dark Age is not over in Nigeria.
