A coalition of human rights groups operating in the South East geopolitical zone has called on the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, to improve power supply in the zone, urging the federal government to revoke the company’s licence if it could   no longer serve the people well.

There is no sign of improved electricity supply to Nigerians as the nation recorded an average power sent out of 4,108MW on December 26, data from the Nigerian Electricity System operator of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, shows.

THERE are indications that many problems, including liquidity, vandalism and huge debt have constrained operators from supplying adequate power to Nigerians. Mr. Chiedu Ugbo, managing mirector of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company, NDPHC, who put the indebtedness to his company alone at N105 billion said these and others have constrained it from making more impact in the sector.
