Emergency services on Thursday said they had called off the search for survivors of a building collapse that killed nine in Nigeria’s biggest city, Lagos, as anger mounted over dilapidated property and unscrupulous owners.

Dozens of children were among scores of people feared trapped on Wednesday after a four-storey building collapsed in Nigeria’s economic capital Lagos, rescuers told AFP, with at least four dead bodies pulled from the rubble.

HUNDREDS of placard-carrying men, women and youths from Ozzu –Ndiukwuenu community in Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra State on Monday stormed the Government House in Awka to protest the alleged ceding of part of 8,500 hectares of Mamu River Forest Reserve in the area to an individual by the Anambra State Government.

Hundreds of community leaders from Ngor Okpala Local Government Area of Imo State, have begged security agencies in the state to end killings in their area which they alleged to be politically sponsored. 

Following the reported clash between the police in Imo state and the members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, the group has pleaded to the Imo state commissioner of police, Dazuki Galadanchi, to come out clear on the whereabouts of the bodies of their members said to have been killed in the incident. 

IN it’s commitment to endear better life for people with special needs, the   management of Bina Foundation, a Non governmental organization based in Enugu said it is not relenting it’s policy of offering free education and skill acquisition for people with special needs, especially the blind.

The rivalry between the two cult groups assumed a new dimension as they are believed to be fighting over the “ownership” of the land. Members of Aye are alleged to be fighting alleged attempts to dominate the ancient city by the Eiye Confraternity which they believed is a migrant cult group that came into the city from another region of the country while Aye, they say, was formed in Benin-City and should therefore have unfettered control of the land.

The pranksters reportedly said the missing child was in their custody and will be released provided the family met their demand

In the moments that followed, two monarchs, Igwe Benneth Izuchukwu Emeka of Umuleri and Igwe Alex Edozieuno of Aguleri Otu, who is the Chairman of Anambra East Traditional Rulers Council, exchanged hot words over the breaking of the kolanut. It was gathered that the disagreement embarrassed Obiano such that his protocol officers had to shelve the breaking of kolanut on that occasion.

“MY younger brother had always wanted to have money by all means, even through rituals. He is my own younger brother and had always been in haste to have money through any means, but I thank God that he was exposed. He stole my wife’s underwear, and wanted to use it for ritual so that he will have money than me.”
