Aero Contractors Airline has signed a partnership agreement with AJW Group, a market leader in the global management of aircraft spares, to assist the airline in the restructuring and upgrading of its Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, MRO, support services.

The Kwara State Government has commended Med-View Airline for extending its domestic flight operations to the state. The Secretary to the Kwara State Government, Alhaji Shola Gold Isiaka, made the commendation during a courtesy visit by officials of Medview Airline to his office after the airline’s inaugural flight to Ilorin on Tuesday.

A combined team of officials from the International Civil Aviation Organisation ,ICAO, led by Mr. Caj Frostel and Singapore led by Mr. Michael Toft arrived in Nigeria over the weekend to assist Accident Investigation Bureau, AIB, in the technical evaluation of its Flight Safety Laboratory and capacity development.

The volume of cargo export through Nigeria airports will soon be enhanced by massive fish export from Nigeria by some members of Catfish Farmers Association of Nigeria, CAFAN . This has been made possible by the recent federal government intervention in the forex market which has relatively made the dollar available with the resultant gradual reduction in the price of fish feeds which the farmers needs.

IN spite of paucity of funds that has affected most of the aviation agencies in Nigeria due to the general recession of the country’s economy, the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency, NAMA, has been able to keep the country’s airspace safe for flight operations by both domestic and foreign airlines. The recent on time complete calibration of Kaduna Airport navigational aids is a pointer to efforts of NAMA to make Nigeria airspace safe.

The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority , NCAA, has said it will not compromise the internationally accepted requirements for obtaining Air Operators Certificate, AOC, by prospective airline operators. The regulatory authority added that it insistence on strict procedure of issuance of airline licences is one of the processes to ensure that no airline cuts corner in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Authority (ICAO) regulation.

What probably might have resulted in another major disaster in the aviation industry was averted recently by Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), following a random alcohol and drug test carried out on licensed aviation personnel. The screening was conducted on 87 officials including pilots and cabin crew members from two private airlines and Air Traffic Controllers of the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).
