Hon. Magaji backs Aremu’s re-election bid with ₦20m donation

Hon. Magaji backs Aremu’s re-election bid with ₦20m donation

Oyo — Nigerian entrepreneur and political mobiliser, Hon. Suleiman Abubakar Magaji, has donated ₦20 million in support of the re-election campaign of Hon. Shittu Ibrahim Aremu, representing Saki West Constituency in the Oyo State House of Assembly.

Magaji confirmed the donation in an interview with journalists on Sunday, saying his support was based on Aremu’s performance, leadership style, and impact in his constituency rather than party affiliation.

He described Aremu as a committed and results-driven legislator whose return to the Assembly would further benefit his constituents.

“For me, it is about quality leadership or nothing. I am always ready to support anyone I believe can deliver, and that is why I am fully backing Hon. Shittu Ibrahim Aremu,” Magaji said.

He added that Aremu’s first term had demonstrated effective representation and grassroots engagement, which justified his re-election bid.

Magaji also noted the political dynamics in Oyo State, where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) controls the government, but said Aremu has remained one of the most visible opposition lawmakers in the State Assembly.

“In a state like Oyo, which is firmly under PDP control, Hon. Aremu stands out among opposition lawmakers. His performance has made the opposition relevant and vibrant,” he said.

He further commended Aremu’s legislative performance, particularly in oversight functions, alleging that the lawmaker had faced political resistance while pushing for development in his constituency.

Magaji also praised Aremu’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), stating that he resisted pressure to defect to the ruling PDP.

“That speaks volumes about his character, loyalty, and integrity,” he said.

He emphasized that his support for Aremu was part of a broader commitment to encouraging credible leadership and continuity in governance, arguing that re-election would help sustain ongoing constituency projects.

“I am a firm believer in continuity because it drives progress. Returning Aremu to office will ensure that ongoing projects are not abandoned,” he added.

Magaji urged residents of Saki West Constituency to support Aremu’s re-election bid, describing him as a “tested and trusted” representative.
