By the grace of God today we begin the second half of the month of December, which means we have barely fourteen days to the end of 2018. We have every reason to thank the Almighty God for his goodness to us.
Though, some families might have experienced painful challenges, such as the death of loved ones, we pray that God will comfort such families and thank Him for the grace to be alive. To some who might have questioned my suggestions, let me remind you that there are cases in which members of the same family, have died in a motor accident, or as a result of generator fumes, poison or even attacks by men of the underworld.
Brethren, you now appreciate while you should thank God. Remember, it is only the living that can praise God.
We are all familiar with the popular saying that “ while there is life, there is hope”. We repeat this statement often but do we act it? Not many of us act it.
The Holy Bible feeds us with the reason we should be hopeful.
Job 14 vs. 7 “ For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease”.
Brethren what is the storm that you are passing through? If you are a faith filled Christian, the stormy season is the time for your faith to rise. When your faith rises, you become hopeful and eventually you receive.
Our Lord Jesus promised and left for us the Comforter. The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Truth.
Our authority is found in John 14 vs. 16& 17 “ And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever. Even the Spirit of Truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him: for he dwelleth in you, and shall be in you”.
Brethren, ask your self these questions. Do I know Him? Do I have a relationship with Him? Does he dwell in me? If your answers are positive, then you are an overcomer but if your answers are in the negative, you are not likely to be hopeful.
Without the Holy Spirit, we are likely to be overwhelmed by challenges. We therefore need to invite the Holy Spirit into our lives.
Our Lord Jesus further assured us in John 14 vs. 26 & 27 “ But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you”. Peace I leave with you , my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid”.
So what it is that troubles you? What is it that you are afraid of? Why not invite the Prince of Peace into that situation? Why not invite the Holy Spirit also? Brethren, if you don’t invite, Jesus, he will not come into that situation. For it is only those that ask that receive. Matthew 7 vs. 8 “ For everyone that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened”.
So how do we invite the Holy Spirit? By reading and meditating on the word of God, our presence where the Word is being preached, singing songs of praise to the Almighty God and by praying.
There are other ways not mentioned here but these four are crucial. When we praise God, we are giving Him what he cannot give himself; therefore, He will manifest his power in our lives.
Brethren, I don’t know if you are familiar with this song. In the RCCG hymnal it is no 204 but other Christian hymnbooks have it too.
Let me share with you some of the lyrics of that song.
“ Spirit divine, attend our prayers,
And make our hearts Thy home;
Descend with all Thy gracious powers,
O come, great Spirit, come.”
I am particularly moved by the lyrics of verse 4 of the song which is “ Come as the dew and sweetly bless
This consecrated hour;
May bareness rejoice to own
Thy fertilizing power”.
It is likely that many of us are familiar with this song. Go to bed with your Spirit Man singing this powerful song and by the grace of God, you will hear from the Holy Spirit.
I pray that everything and anything that appears barren in your life, your business, your marriage, the life of your children or your spouse, your finances, will receive the touch of the Holy Spirit and bounce back to life in Jesus name.
The name of our Lord , Jesus give us peace, it gives us joy . That is why He is called the Prince of Peace. With His peace, your heart cannot be troubled. Those who trouble you, the Lord will trouble. Brethren, whatever is the situation, as believers in Christ, we need to be calm and expect the touch of the Holy Spirit.
Are you in debt and you are worried about how to pay? No doubt, it is worrisome especially if are a good Christian but be of courage, be prayerful and hopeful and the Lord that can do all things will write off your debt in the name of Jesus.
Are you worried that the year is coming to an end and there is nothing to show for your relationship as a couple after years of marriage? Look unto Jesus. Do you know that even before this year ends, that pregnancy positive result you have been expecting will be in your hands?
Move your faith away from total reliance on science or other methods of comfort. Concentrate on the one who can comfort your doctor and his medical team; Jesus. With the power of the Holy Spirit in you, you shall indeed be comforted. Fear, worries will have no place in your life. Indeed, rather than be down cast, you will exhibit the confidence of a true believer.
Brethren with God ALL things are possible. We have no cause to doubt these words of God as recorded in Luke 9 vs. 23 “ And Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth”.
May I share with you some amazing testimonies recorded at the just concluded annual Holy Ghost Congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God as recorded by Sunday Vanguard’s religious affairs correspondents.
Testimony – “ We got married in 2002 and since then, we have been trusting God for the fruit of the womb. In 2016, we were privileged to meet Daddy G.O. and he prayed for us and declared that we will soon shout for joy and share our testimony. We believed and trusted God for the manifestation of His Word. In December last year ( 2017), God proved Himself and he gave us quadruplets, one boy and three girls”. Deaconess Lucy Ojiejhudu gave the testimony.
For 16 years of waiting, God gave four children. With a bit of mathematics, one child for four years of waiting. Isn’t our God awesome?
Brethren, did you see how God wiped away the reproach in the life of this couple?
Continue to exercise your faith. Be hopeful and God will give you a result that will cancel all the insults you may have received from people.
Keep hope alive and God will surprise you even before this year ends in Jesus name.
Enjoy the Peace of the Lord this week and always in Jesus name.
