With Jesus, all is not lost

By Funmi Komolafe

Today is the beginning of a new week. God will do spectacular things in your life this week in the name of Jesus.

Brethren, I am so excited this morning.  Why? I have seen the manifestation of the power of God in someone’s life.  Very soon, it will be your turn and my turn in Jesus name.

When some unfortunate things happen in life, we tend to come to the conclusion that all is lost.   However, this should not be the thought of a Christian who has Christ in his or her life.

You must be wondering what is she writing about?

I’ll begin today’s edition with a testimony.

It’s the story of Lady Y.  She had an only son. The 12-year-old boy went on a holiday at the mum’s sister’s residence, had an accident and died.

The only fruit of her marriage was gone.  By this time she was well over 40.

As usual many consoled her but I notice that when I called to console her, rather than find her weeping, she simply said, no one could question God.

Sister Y. whom people tried to comfort was rather strong in spirit and speaking the word of God to people.  Make no mistake about it, she was pained but she allowed her inner spirit to subdue emotional pain.

She also maintained her intimate relationship with her sister.

I’ll return to this later but let’s look at a similar incident when our Lord Jesus was physically with us.

Our reference is found in   St. Luke 7 vs. 11-15.  I chose to reproduce this in full so that we can get the full import of what we are talking about.

“ And it came to pass the day after, that we went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city were with her.

And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother”.

I don’t know what you are trusting God for.  You have prayed and you are yet to receive an answer, God will have compassion on you this season and you will rejoice in the mighty name of Jesus.

Note that this son was the only child of the widow. So for her, going by human calculations all was lost.

Now, I return to the story of sister Y. About a year plus after her 12-year-old son died, she had   a baby boy that   bore the marks of the late son.   I told this story before but I have cause to repeat it again because there is an update.

Our God that can recover all that visited sister Y.  Guess what?  Last week she gave birth to a set of triplets; two boys, one girl.

When I heard the news, I praised God so much that everyone in the house came to ask what the news was about.  I was not alone.

The whole town where she was born erupted in jubilation. Whether the enemy likes it or not, this season, God will give you a miracle that will cause your town, your neighbourhood, your family, your colleagues in the office to rejoice with you.

I have told the story of Sister Y so that your faith can be lifted.

You may not know Sist. Y.   but please use her as a point of contact to ask God to have compassion on you and by his grace, you will receive whatever you have asked him for.

Have you been having disappointments, miscarriages?  It’s time to ask for his mercy and compassion.

Brethren, there is a God that can do all things.  We have a compassionate God.  We have a God that hears our secret cry and turns it to laughter.  You just have to have total trust in Jesus.  You must love him who first loved us by serving him.

Our God is not an idol that cannot hear or speak.  He is not an insensitive one.  He is the Almighty, the Omnipotent, Omniscience.   You know all his names.  Call him by his names and he will answer you.

The book of prophet Isaiah 59 vs. 1 describes our God “ Behold the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear”.

Verse 2 tells us why he may not heed our cries “ But your iniquities have separated   between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that, he will not hear”.

Brethren, it simply means we should do our best to keep away from sins so that our prayers will be answered.

I’m sure Sister Y. didn’t ask God for triplets but God in his infinite mercy gave them to her.

You too can benefit from his mercy.

Romans 9 vs. 15” For he said to Moses, I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion”.  God spoke not only to Moses but to you and I also.

Also last week, news of the birth of a baby boy for a couple that had waited for about 10 years filtered in.

In their own case, the husband works and lives in Yola  while the wife is in Lagos.  So, the distance could also be a challenge scientifically speaking.

But the lady kept trusting God.

Occasionally, she would visit her husband and return to Lagos.

We didn’t hear that the husband took advantage of his wife’s absence to raise a secret family somewhere.  No such thing.

Men who do such things think they are smart but they are only sowing the seeds of future conflict, contest and perhaps sorrow in their homes.

In spite of the physical distance between them, they both remain focused holding on to the promise of God that they would be fruitful.

He kept faith with God and God kept faith with him.

To the glory of God, she gave birth to a baby boy in Yola.  Shouts of joy erupted in their families.

For those who do not see assisted conception as a miracle, I have an assignment for you.  Go and ask couples that have had series of assisted conception why it failed?

Why would one succeed and others even after four, five, six or seven IVF did not produce children?   The difference, brethren is the hand of God.

Where the hand of God is involved, there will be no failure.  You will not only succeed, you will get a   dream like miracle that will amaze you.

Imagine what Sister Y and her husband are saying, they lost one and within three years, God gave them four.

Believe it, receive it.

All is not lost when master Jesus; the greatest physician is involved.

Prepare for your own celebration.

Shalom!
