Not less than 30 communities in Aawe District of Asa Local Government Area in Kwara state are yet to have power supply, over 100 years after their creation, according to the Head of the District, Alhaji Oba Daudu-Suleiman.

FORMER President of Trade Union Congress, TUC, Mr. Peter Esele, has disclosed that the Federal Government paid over N1 trillion to Electricity Generation Companies, GENCOs and Electricity Distribution Companies, DISCOs, since the commencement of the privatisation of the  power sector with nothing to show for it.

OWERRI—ENUGU Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, yesterday cried out  over the illegal distribution of electricity to members of the public by unauthorised persons.

THE Federal Government’s quest to make electricity available to all Nigerians has received a boost, as the United States African Development Foundation (USADF), and All-On partner to develop, scale up and promote the use of renewable off-grid energy technologies to reach communities not served by existing power grids in the country.

ABA—RESIDENTS of Gaius street and Ohuru Isimiri areas, Aba, Abia State have given a 14 day ultimatum to the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company, EEDC, to improve electricity supply to the area as well as reduce what it described as crazy bills being issued to them.

AWKA—AN international organization, Power for All, which is campaigning for the provision of electricity in many African countries, has said that no fewer than 93 million Nigerians lacked access to electricity.
