High profile  Nigerians were, yesterday, dodging from publicly exposing themselves to the latest war of words between  the Muhammadu Buhari administration and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

One day, the late Abiola was given the newspapers and a security officer, following orders from the above, moved to retrieve the papers from him, apparently in line with the directive given him, the late Abiola held on tenaciously to the papers until he broke his back in the scuffle that ensued. It was not clear if he recovered from that encounter until he died in controversial circumstance in July 1998.

Senator Smart Adeyemi has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the honour on the winner of the  June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola and called on him to extend the honour to other heroes of the struggle for the actualization of the mandate.

A former Foreign Affairs Minister and a top former leader of the defunct National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), Professor Bolaji Akinyemi, says nobody can accuse President Muhammadu Buhari of pandering to the South of Nigeria, following his decision to posthumously honour Chief MKO Abiola with the nation’s highest award and recognise June 12 as Democracy Day.

One of such that would have presented Buhari as being mean, but which could have demonstrated to Nigerians that he meant business, was to have disinfected himself from some political contaminants.  That way, he would have signposted the seriousness of his commitment to fighting corruption
