A mammoth crowd besieged the Onipanu Police division in Otta, Ogun state last Sunday , to catch a glimpse of a man that was arrested with a bag full of  human parts by a team of policemen that was on a stop and search routine exercise around the area. The news of the arrest spread like wild fire as parents and guardians reportedly gathered their children and wards in- doors to ensure their safety.

The 26 year-old suspect identified Adelani Oriyomi was reportedly heading towards Iboro Ayetoro area of the state with a Bagco super sac at about  8am, when most Christian faithful were heading to their respective places of worship  .

Crime Guard gathered that everyone he passed-by turned back to have a second look at him following the stench that was emanating from the sack. But none could dare approach him , until he passed by the policemen who were concentrating on the moving vehicles, when the stench from the bag aroused their suspicion. A closer look at him, revealed that the bag was stained with blood, consequent upon which Oriyomi was stopped, with a directive to reveal the content of the bag.

Eye witnesses said he initially resisted and instead, identified himself as a butcher who had gone to carry the remnant of the previous day’s sales from a near-by cold room . His incoherence was said to have met the stiff insistence of the policemen to ascertain the content. But Oriyomi’s next move reportedly shocked the policemen as he dropped the bag and took to his heels.

When the bag was eventually forced opened, the policemen were taken aback by the starling discovery of some human parts. They included four fresh human heads which were dripping with blood, a heart, two hands believed to be those of females , following the painted long nails and a female private part.

Meanwhile, sympathizers who were at the scene of the strange discovery later gave Oriyomi  a hot chase and got him apprehended;  accusing him of being a  kidnapper  and a  murderer.  But for the intervention of the policemen, Oriyomi would have  been lynched.
Confession

In his confessional statement to the police, Oriyomi who resides in Iboro Ayetoro area of Ogun state revealed that the human parts were exhumed from a burial ground in Badagry area of Lagos.  On how that was possible, he stated, “ I was passing by the burial ground last night (Saturday) and noticed that none of the guards was around. I then sneaked in and exhumed these parts and sneaked out again”.

Asked what his intention was , he revealed, “ I am tired of life. There is no job, no money to even feed myself let alone getting married and start raising a family of mine. I had to do this out of frustration. I wanted to use it for money ritual because things are really tight for me”

The command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the arrest would among other things send a warning signal to others who indulge in using human parts for money rituals.

“This is a pointer to the fact that the Ogun state police  command is capable of ridding the state of hoodlums particularly ritualists. This is also to  send a warning  signal to the whole society that Ogun state command is moving at a supersonic speed in combating crimes and ready to crush any hoodlum or deviant who are terrorizing the good people of Ogun state and Nigeria at large”.

He however, urged members of the public to avail the command with useful information that would assist it in ridding the state of unscrupulous individuals, stating that individuals with such information mayt decide not to give their identities, adding that the suspect would soon appear in court.
