Nigerian singer and guitarist Seunstics has revealed why he serenades people on their birthdays, describing it as a deeply personal expression of emotion, connection, and storytelling through music.
Speaking in an interview with Potpourri, the singer explained that his birthday serenades are intentional acts rooted in human experience rather than performance routine.
“I serenade people on their birthdays because I believe music should step into people’s lives at their most personal moments — it’s my way of turning ordinary days into something they’ll never forget,” he said.
He further explained that birthdays hold a unique emotional weight that makes them meaningful spaces for musical expression.
“Birthdays carry emotion — reflection, gratitude, hope. When I sing for someone on that day, I’m not just performing, I’m participating in their story in a very real way,” he added.
Seunstics, whose real name is Seun Abiwo, is known for blending soul, gospel, and alternative influences in his music, with works such as Laye Mi featuring Kenny K’ore, Omo featuring Princess Ifemide, and The Reason showcasing his reflective and emotional sound.
He noted that his approach to music goes beyond releases and performances, focusing instead on emotional impact and long-lasting connection with listeners.
“For me, music has never been about just releasing songs. It’s about creating feelings that stay with people long after the sound is gone,” he said.
Over the years, he has built a reputation for intimate performances and acoustic-driven experiences, particularly at private events where his serenades have become a signature expression of his artistry.
For Seunstics, every birthday performance is not just a musical moment, but a shared memory built through sound, presence, and emotion.
