The wife of the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Mrs Olamidun Ogundoyin, has shared an insight into how she turned a small N20,000 suya business into a thriving entrepreneurial venture to motivate other young people to pursue their business dreams.

She gave the insight at the opening of Ibadan branch of Sooyah Bistro, one of Nigeria’s largest indigenous quick service restaurants (QSRs) where one can experience the best of suya, marking its 10th location and the first outside Lagos state.

Ogundoyin, who said she started her suya enterprise, Sooyah Bistro, in 2018 with just N20,000 worth of stock and a suya Mallam, said, “We’ve grown this far, not through loans or investments but organically because of how much our suya fam love our food and support the brand.”

“What began as a modest suya stall has blossomed into a successful business,” crediting the loyalty of her customers for helping Sooyah Bistro grow without the need for external financing.

“If I can turn N20,000 into a lifelong career, anyone with passion and determination can achieve great things,” she stressed.

Ogundoyin advised young entrepreneurs to focus on delivering quality products or services that customers genuinely value.

“Start small, but always strive to exceed your customers’ expectations “Reinvest your profits back into the business, and let organic growth be your guide. With hard work and responsiveness to your market, you can build something sustainable.”

While performing the official opening, the Commissioner for Energy in the state, Seun Ashamu, described the new branch as another mission accomplished by the founder and Chief Executive Officer.

He said Sooyah Bistro’s expansion to Ibadan is a testament to the enabling business environment and the growth potentials of the state.

“As Commissioner for Energy, I recognise the importance of entrepreneurship and innovation in driving economic development.”

“I encourage Sooyah Bistro to continue providing excellent services and creating opportunities for our citizens. I also urge the management to explore ways to partner with our government to promote tourism and economic growth in Oyo State.”

In his remark, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin, said the ceremony was a momentous occasion which marks a significant milestone in the journey of the enterprise.

“As a proud husband of the founder, Olamidun Ogundoyin, I have had the privilege of witnessing the hard work and dedication that has gone into building this brand.”

“Today, we celebrate not just the opening of a new branch but the realization of a vision to bring people together through good food and warm hospitality.”

“Sooyah Bistro’s commitment to quality and excellence is a testament to the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our state forward. I commend the team for their tireless efforts and congratulate them on this achievement,” he said.
