The Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) is seeking a licence from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to operate a microfinance bank, allowing it to directly disburse and monitor funds meant for small businesses, as well as attract more international development finance.

Chairman of the Forum, Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo State, made the remarks while briefing newsmen after a meeting with the progressive governors in Abuja.

The bill was considered clause by clause at plenary, with lawmakers adopting several provisions designed to enhance transparency, improve the conduct of elections and reduce post-election disputes.
