GUNMEN, Saturday night, attacked the area near Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, killing two, including Azi Magaji, the driver of Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Mr. Joshua Madaki, and left two others critically injured.
The Speaker’s driver was said to be on an errand and was not driving his principal at the time of the incident.
Confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Tyopev, said: “Yesterday, (Saturday) at about 9p.m., a distress call was received to the effect that there were sporadic gunshots at Zarazong area of Jos, which houses Jos University Teaching Hospital, JUTH, Gate 4.
“On arrival, Azi Magaji, driver to the Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly and Edward Titus a security guard with JUTH were found motionless.
“They were rushed to JUTH immediately, but were confirmed dead by the doctor on duty. Kopdi Monday and Nenman Popdak,who were on duty at JUTH Gate 4 were also found with gunshot injuries and were rushed to JUTH.”
“The two victims are responding to treatment. Investigation into the case is on to track and arrest the perpetrators to face Justice. The Speaker’s driver was not driving his principal’s official vehicle but the Operation Rainbow Patrol vehicle.”
