ENUGU— In its bid to ensure food security in the country, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, UNN, is partnering the Global Breadfruit Institute, GBI, to develop improved varieties of breadfruit trees which can bear fruits within three years. This follows the discovery that the fruits could be used to make cake, finger rolls, noodles, chin-chin, salad, flour, fries, chocolate, just as it could be used as a substitute for potatoes in the production of meat-pies.

THE indigenes of Amanyi Autonomous community in Ihitte-Uboama Local Government Area of Imo state, have vowed to oppose the alleged plan by some government functionaries to install a monarch against the wishes of their people. The indigenes made the statement in a strongly worded petition, jointly signed by Nze Ignatius Obila and Ichie Okereke Ogbonna, to Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, a copy which was made available to Southeast voice in Owerri.

OWERRIi— Civil society organizations in Imo State, have asked the state government to include citizens as well as the town unions in the budget process to enable them contribute their quota in choosing priority projects that would impact on the lives of their people.
