lagos—Following shortfall in the monthly federal allocations to states, Deputy Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Wasiu Eshinlokun-Sanni yesterday expressed confidence that the present administration in the state led by Governor Akinwunmi Ambode would deliver on its electoral promises, particularly, on developmental projects through the state’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.

Speaking at an event organised by members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, at Teslim Balogun Stadium,  Eshinlokun-Sanni, noted that the dwindling global oil prices which had affected federal allocations to states would not in any way affect Lagos State’s economy, as government had earlier prepared for the rainy season.

According to him, “Lagos State Government has long prepared for raining days, but the current administration led by Governor Akinwumi Ambode is committed to do more for Lagosians despite scarcity of funds.

He noted that Ambode through various reforms, particularly, tax regime was capable of providing basic amenities for residents

Eshinlokun-Sanni who expressed optimism on the rise of oil prices in the nearest future said “The state is experiencing decrease in what is being handed over to us from federation allocation. This is expected to affect the resources available to the state in delivering developmental projects. Although, IGR will help us to cope and we are going to deliver on our promises and do more.”

He however, urged residents to perform their civic responsibility by paying their taxes willingly, as at when due and not be compelled.

On his part, the Chairman Organising Committee of APC, Lagos Central Victory Party, Chief David Adenekan, urged Nigerians to be more patient with the party at the federal level, as it was working round the clock to ameliorate the plight of citizens inflicted by the 16 years of  administration of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the centre.

“We are starting our cleaning process from the top, and when the cleaning process is completed the progress will start trickling down and will be sustained.” Adenekan assured.
