ENUGU—All Progressives Congress, APC, has resolved to invest in public infrastructure, especially on electricity, modern railway, roads, coal mining, bitumen and other minerals, if voted into power in 2015.

This came as it also zoned the governorship ticket in Enugu State to Enugu North senatorial district, also known as Nsukka zone.

Rising from a meeting in Enugu weekend, a member of APC merger committee, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, told newsmen that the decision to invest in public infrastructure arose out of the need to create jobs for the huge population of unemployed youths in the country.

He said: “We are committed to getting our people back to work; for we are witnesses of how regrettably the, PDP, in the last 13 years squandered oil revenue accruals from Federal Inland Revenue Services, Customs Duty and LNG sales”.

On the zoning of the governorship ticket in Enugu State to Nsukka, Okechukwu appealed to credible aspirants from Enugu East and Enugu West to support the decision in the spirit of brotherhood.

Okechukwu, who was the state gubernatorial candidate of Congress for Progressives Change, CPC, in 2011 explained that Enugu East and West senatorial districts had produced the governor for eight years each since the return of civil rule in 1999, adding that equity, fairness and justice demanded that power should shift to Enugu North district.

“In 1999, Dr Chimaroke Nnamani from Enugu East became governor in Enugu State and he ruled for eight years. Sullivan Chime, who hails from Enugu West, took over in 2007 and by the time his tenure comes to an end in May 2015, he must have ruled for eight years.

“So, we believe in APC that for equity, fairness and justice to prevail, the next governor should come from Enugu North, which is Nsukka zone” he said.

Okechukwu called on the people of Nsukka zone to support APC to ensure the emergence of a governor who would meet all their aspirations, including infrastructural development and provision of social amenities, job creation and enhanced security.
