A group of Muslim youths in Ondo State, under the aegis of Ondo Youthful Muslims (OYM) have advocated for a Muslim as the deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the November 16, 2024 gubernatorial election.

The political crisis rocking Rivers State is gradually creeping to a tipping point as the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has issued a standing order to the 27 APC members in the House of Assembly to immediately commence an impeachment process on Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

“I knew about some random individuals. They are not ward leaders of Ganduje ward and they are not ward leaders of anywhere then not what leaders are going to hear.”

“The Edo primary has come and gone and we are preparing for the governorship election. The party in Edo State has elected a candidate who bears our flag at the moment. We almost had one or two persons who went to court. But they had pulled out and filed a notice to discontinue the cases.”

“I am not from Kano. But I have heard analysis from prominent politicians who think so (a war between Kwankwaso and Ganduje). It is an attempt to create a problem within our party.”

The opposition Labour Party, LP, and Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, yesterday, expressed shock over how the United States 2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices arrived at its conclusion that the 2023 polls reflected the will of Nigerians, despite widespread irregularities.

He made the appeal on Thursday in Abuja, when the aspirants met with the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).

“We, therefore, demand that Dr Umar Ganduje resign immediately and stop parading himself as the National Chairman of our great party; the zoning arrangements made by the National Convention in 2022, which zoned the office of the national chairman to the North Central be respected by the NEC and all other organs of the party and that all governors elected on the platform of the APC in the North Central should wake up from their slumber and mobilize their members against this impunity until Ganduje resigns as the national chairman.”

Mr Bamidele Oloyeloogun, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, says the All Progressives Congress(APC) may lose the Nov. 16 governorship election if Saturday’s primary is not cancelled.

The Seven-man Primary Election Committee set up to conduct the shadow poll in Ondo State has assured the 16 governorship aspirants of a free, fair, and transparent exercise.
