Most motor parks across Nigeria do not only serve the purpose of loading and offloading passengers. They also serve several purposes which people do not know. Research has shown that major parks in Nigeria turn to mini international markets at night with different kinds of traders all struggling to sell and also, a conducive atmosphere for smokers to enjoy themselves as they feel very comfortable doing their thing at odd hours.

When the sun goes down is when things really heat up at Motor parks in most parts of the country. The mixture of music coming from different stalls where cassettes, CDs DVD of different artistes are sold, the intermittent noise from loudspeakers calling passengers to board buses to different parts of the country, the blaring of horns by luxurious buses and articulated vehicles around including shouts and arguments in the area are enough cacophony of hoots and cackles that define night life in most part of the countr

In major cities and towns across the country, villages strategically located along highways, there are up to more than 3000 motor parks and joints in which travellers eat, drink and smoke without mandatory closing time, from morning through the night till day break.

Observing from a distance, one can not quantify the large number of young men and women alike converging in motor parks with the aim of traveling very early in the morning and most times late at night. Saturday Vanguard did a close up on Maza-Maza motor park in Lagos recently.
