President of National Council of Muslim Organizations, NACOMYO, Alhhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde has urged Nigerians to show understanding and perseverance on the current economic recession in the country, adding that a constant ‘round table discussion between government and labour’ is necessary for averting end-less labour crisis in the country.
Alhaji Akintunde spoke at a forum organised by “At-Taoheed Women’s Society” in Abeokuta
Alh Akintunde noted that workers were the engine room of government and therefore they should not be denied of what is due to them, for sustainable and increased productivity.
He enjoined government to be magnanimous at all times while also imploring labour to exercise restraint and use the proper mechanism to seek redress in accordance with the labour law.
The Muslim leader lamented Nigeria’s over dependance on oil, noting that a diversified and multi economy will guarantee economic stability and prosperity.
Meanwhile, the NACOMYO President has renewed the call for girl-child education to enhance family status and societal development. He commended the Federal Government for accepting to undertake responsibility for the care of released Chibok girls, noting it as a boost to girl-child education.
He opined that the development had rekindled hope that the remaining girls, still in captivity will soon rejoin their families, urging government and the International community to double efforts for a result-yielding talks with their captors.
Alhaji Akintunde decried the incessant kidnap, abduction and other criminality being perpetrated in the country, calling for National Summit on Security to address the growing violence and insecurity in Nigeria. He lamented the abduction of former National President of NACOMYO and Chairman Dawah Coordinating Council of Nigeria, Engr Muhammad Lawal Maidoki and some members of his family, pleading with their abductors to release them immediately.
