Delta Community denies crisis report, says election peaceful

By Festus Ahon

ELDERS and leaders of Ekiugbo community, Ughelli North Local Government Area, Delta State have described as false; media reports that the community was in crisis over election of executive to pilot the affairs of the community for the next three years.

Speaking with newsmen on behalf of the people, a member of the community’s Council of Elders, Chief John Ayoro said “there is no iota of truth in the publication because there is absolute peace in Ekuigbo and the said election is not generating any form of crisis in the community as wrongly stated in the report.

“The election where Mr, Ovwigho Onotanuyohwo emerged as President of Ekuigbo community and Mr. Ognenekaro Odjimogho as Youth Chairman is the most peaceful and credible in the history of the community.

“There was never a time the election was postponed by the electoral committee and there was no elder who said the election should be postponed. Besides there were no issues that trailed the delegates list and everybody including the youths and elders were in total agreement on the date the election was held.

“The election was free, fair and credible and everybody is happy with the outcome. We are calling on everybody to disregard the publication because it is the handiwork of mischief makers who do not have the interest of the community at heart.”
