ASABA—A member of the House of Representatives, Chief Evelyn Oboro, has flagged off her free medical services for rural dwellers in her constituency.
Speaking during the event at the Trade Fair Ground, Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area, Delta State, Oboro, who represents Uvwie/Sapele/Okpe federal constituency, said that her decision to embark on the programme was informed by the need to make free quality medical services accessible to her constituents, particularly the rural dwellers and indigent persons.
She said that the programme would be accessible to the people of the constituency irrespective of their political affiliations and ideologies, adding, “It is meant for rural dwellers in my constituency who ordinarily would not have access to quality health care services due to financial constraints and other logistic problems.”
Promising that the free medical programme will hold twice yearly, Oboro enjoined the people to avail themselves of the opportunity presented by the programme.
Flagging off the programme, Delta State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, reaffirmed the commitment of his administration to partner relevant stakeholders in the health sector with a view to providing quality health care to the people of the state at affordable rate.
Describing the free medical outreach as key to the actualisation of his SMART agenda, Okowa said that the Health Insurance Scheme which was under way is to enable Deltans get quality health care service at low cost.
