FCT backs Onyedinma for second term

BY JUDE OPARA, Abuja
THE Board of the Federal Capital Territory Football Association (FCTFA) says it is throwing its support for the ambition of the Chairperson of the Nigeria Women Football League Chief (Mrs.) Dilichukwu Onyedinma to retain her position in the forth- coming elections into the board of the league.

Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Musa Saeed Talle, told journalists in Abuja over the weekend that the board arrived at this decision after properly reviewing the achievements of Mrs. Onyedinma in the last four years.

“The board of the FCT FA  during its meeting held at the weekend , took a critical look at the performance of the Nigeria Women Football League  vis-a vis the Chairperson of the Board in last four years,  and we came to the resolution that she had performed excellently well, considering the achievements recorded by the various national women teams within the period under review.

“Not minding the harsh environment she found herself in the last dispensation, it takes the doggedness of people with great passion, and determination to achieve the feat the board recorded. We have no option than to endorse her for the second term in the office. We are very convinced that with the good working relationship she has with the present leadership of the Federation, that Nigeria Women Football would no doubt maintain its leadership position in Africa, and compete favourably with others in Europe, America and Asia”

The Chairman equally took a swipe at those who are trying to rubbish the recently concluded Women Super Six Football competition held in Umuahia, Abia State, describing such people as the real enemies of the game in the country.

“It is laughable when you hear the caliber of people making such comments, these are people whose antecedents are well known.
