WARRI—A group, Concerned Citizens of Ogbe-Ijoh, in Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, has alerted the governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, of a brewing inter-communal crisis between Ogbe-Ijoh and the neighbouring Aladja, an Urhobo town.

In a Save Our Soul to the governor by Mr Friday Deinghan and two others, the group, said: “We, wish to draw the attention of the governor of Delta State and chief security officer of the state to the imminent inter- communal clash and possible breakdown of law and order between Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities as a result of consistent attacks on Ogbe-Ijoh people.

“The governor of the state and members of the public are aware that for some years now, the people of Aladja have been carrying out persistent attacks and extortion on people carrying building materials to Ogbe-Ijoh through Aladja.

“Ogbe-Ijoh people had written several letters to security agencies and even to the governor of Delta State and President Goodluck Jonathan. As a result of these attacks, on the invitation of the governor of Delta State, there was a meeting between leaders of Ogbe-Ijoh and Aladja communities at Government House, Asaba and presided over by Deputy Governor, Prof Amos Utuama, with the Commissioner of Police, Department of State Services, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Delta State and some other commissioners in attendance.

“It was resolved that Aladja indigenes should stop preventing the movement of building materials to Ogbe-Ijoh through Aladja town which is the only access road to Ogbe-Ijoh town and also that no body should build on the buffer zone between the two communities as identified by government.”
